Welcome! This is a bilingual English and Chinese blog about founding a web startup in China.

As a team, we think we have an interesting perspective: one a returnee, the other moving to another country. We both have experience working in companies large and small, but as first-time founders, we know there’s a lot to learn, especially in as vibrant and rapidly-changing a place as China.

This blog is where we will share our thoughts, experiences, adventures, difficulties, musings, and pretty anything else that happens along the way. We hope you’ll find something of interest here; we’d love to hear from you, so drop us a comment sometime!

Our journey begins with a local Chinese incubator known as TSW. We’re part of the inaugural class, which means we’re given a small sum of seed money and 12 weeks to crank out a product that we can then pitch to investors. Hence the name of the blog: the distance from San Francisco, California to Shanghai, China (if you take Google Map’s route…) is roughly 9,000 miles.
